Can Satan read our minds?

Satan is not omniscient but he must have some knowledge of our spiritual development or decadence. The reality and power of evil are ignored or rejected in our secular society - like the reality and power of God’s love. The Communion of Saints implies the existence of a community of sinners! We may not be the Devil’s disciples but we are certainly not immune to temptation. It is a mistake to think we are isolated individuals who have no spiritual effect on one another…

No. He is very powerful and intelligent (though God is infinitely more so), and he can often guess correctly from our words and actions, what we are are thinking. But he cannot read our minds.

See for example the Gospel story of the Devil tempting Jesus. The Devil seems to have worked out that Jesus is something very special, at least a prophet of God, but he is trying to work out exactly who or what Jesus is.

I think that we do not need to tiptoe around or pray mostly in our head for the sake of tricking the evil ones. Why not speak some prayers out loud and make those who would like us to sin flee all the quicker? 😃

Why give them even that little power over us when we can try to be courageous? Just my initial opinion. 🍿

Since the power you attribute to Satan is entirely in your mind, I guess you could answer that Satan can read your mind but the commonsense – and sound – answer is that Satan only has the power YOU give him over your behavior. In almost everything, you have a choice. Satan is not in control. YOU are. Satan is the fall guy for your own disavowed desire to do evil or to abstain from doing good. Look at yourself first when you have an impulse against your conscience. Ask yourself what you really ought to do.
😦

Satan cannot read our minds but he can tempt us through our thoughts and desires.

People speak of our guardian angels as if they know our thoughts. Satan began as an angel like them. why would he not be able to know them too? Or is my interpretaion ot angels wrong? We do pray silently to our guardian angels.

Our angels are on the right side! That must make a difference… 🙂

Praying silently is not just thinking. A prayer is something actively willed and done, even if inaudible. If a silent prayer is addressed to a purely spiritual being (whether good or evil), he will hear it.

I do not believe our guardian angels can read our thoughts. However your guardian angel has been with you every moment from the instant of your conception, and he knows you better than your parents or spouse know you, better than anyone knows you except God Himself. So he probably has a very good idea of what you are thinking most of the time, without actually having the power to read your mind.

God knows all your thoughts. Possibly at times God gives your guardian angel the power to read at least some of your thoughts. We know that at times He gives this power to saintly people, for example St Pio of Pietrelcina.

From my experience, Satan and Demons know our likes and dislikes. Every word we speak they hear us. As for mind reading, I am not sure, Satan might be able to read our minds.

I know for sure whatever you speak out loud Satan hears it. Also your likes and dislike and desires, Satan will work off of this. He does everything and anything in his power to incite anger, jealousy, hate in a person.

For example: If I am speaking in a conversation with a family member and I tell them “I wish I had a bright red corvette and a beautiful wife” Satan hears this, makes the assumption you will get annoyed if you see someone with it…so Satan will show you a person with a corvette and a beautiful wife.

I have been taught that he cannot read our minds as such, but can only see images we create in our heads so to speak.Which makes sense to me.Is why saints speak much about the mortification of the eyes. What we may first perceive as innocent can easily be perverted by him who knows every trick in the book to ensnare us.Temptation follows the perverted image? Then he will work to gain our consent.
