I don’t accept Stephen J. Gould’s term of NOMA, non-overlapping magisteria. Science is corrosive to any religion with faith-based claims.
And if it isn’t then the science isn’t being properly done!
Darwin’s theory of evolution and its mechanism of action (natural selection) does account for all of life’s complexity and sophisticated Catholic theologians accept this. I too don’t want to derail this thread, but appealing to personal credulity when it comes to difficult subjects is a non-starter and should be called out as such.
