Greetings. Can you advise me on a problem concerning my Catholic friend’s wife, please? The situation is this: she is not a Catholic but believes she can present herself for Communion at Mass which she sometimes attends because her husband attends. I believe this is against the Catholic Church’s norms. She also holds what in my mind are beliefs incompatible with the RC Faith, e.g.

- basically all Christian churches are equal in the eyes of God;
and our Catholic Church has no more moral or historical
legitimacy than other denominations; - it is wrong to pray to Our Lady or have the special regard and
veneration for her that is a mark of Catholicism; - to have one’s sins forgiven by God it is not really necessary for
one to confess them to a priest; - there is no good foundation for the Christian Sunday having
replaced the Jewish Sabbath; - justification by faith alone, without the need of good works;
- that freemasons are a perfectly legitimate organisation which
Christians may join in good conscience; - that abortion is acceptable in certain circumstances;
- that the Church is wrong in holding contraception illegitimate;
- that one should not pray to or through the saints; that prayer
should only be to God, direct.
