Can sinless person die physically?

I understand that the penalty for sin is DEATH as supported by the Bible. Romans 6:23 (also ESV, NIV) says “For the wages of sin is death….”

My question is this, Does the Bible talks two kinds of death?

1. The first death is physical.
2. The second death is spiritual or eternal separation from God.

Can physical death go without spiritual death? Can sinless peron die? like Virgin Mary

There is still no definitive teaching on this, but by some it is believed that Mary died before her body was assumed into Heaven. Also, say a person goes to confession, they are forgiven and absolved of sins (sinless), but then die in an accident on the way home.

Or by sinless do you mean, never having sinned ever?

Yes physical death was the wage of sin, however God in His infinite mercy did not exact the payment due from us. First and foremost because as you read in Exodus the atonement for sin is offering a spotless umblemished sacrifice.
Certainly a sinner makes a poor sacrifice so even if God took my life my sin remains
That is why God Himself provided the sacrificial spotless sinless lamb Jesus

NO a sinless person can’t die. Adam and Eve were not meant to die.

Now the issue of Mary and the Immaculate Conception as well as the dormition of Mary need to be brought forward. I personally think Mary didn’t “die” in the sense that we think. I think she experienced something similar to death. Which would be called “falling asleep”. This was what was supposed to happened to Adam and Eve but the fell and thus had to suffer physical death.

Yes. For example, Matthew 10:28 “And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.”

Do you mean can someone physically die but not die spiritually? If that is what you mean, then yes, some who die physically will not experience spiritual death.
All of us will experience physical death, but only those who are not in the state of grace when they die will experience spiritual death.

Yes a sinless person can physically die; Jesus experienced physical death.
About Mary we do not know for certain.

The verse is speaking of the final judgement of the damned – eternal death; eternal separation from Life/God. ("…I am the way, the truth and the life…" John 14:6)
It is the state Jesus spoke of in Mt. 10:28 - the destruction of both soul and body in hell. But please note carefully, “destroy” does not mean annihilate.

Since we are creatures, our bodies are naturally corruptible. But God originally endowed Adam and Eve with divine gifts that granted them special abilities that ‘elevated’ their natural abilities to super****natural (super=above [nature]) ones. One of those gifts was the Gift of Immortality, which was a kind of grace that prevented their bodies from naturally decomposing and dying. This is called “The Nature-Grace Distinction” in Catholic theology.

When Adam and Eve sinned, they lost the Gift of Immortality (along with the other Gifts*****), which immediately subjected their bodies to the decomposition process, which in turn subjected them to pain and death. These Gifts were lost to all creation as well as a punishment. By God’s Divine Providence, Our Lord and Our Lady both did not have the Gift of Immortality, so despite both of them being sinless they could both still suffer and even die. Since Protestants deny the Nature-Grace Distinction, they have no way of explaining how Jesus was able to die despite Him being sinless.

***** The other Gifts of grace that Adam and Eve were endowed with were: the Gift of Integrity, by which their bodily desires were in harmony with their spiritual desires; the Gift of Infused Knowledge, whereby God granted them a library of knowledge that they didn’t have to learn; and most importantly the Gift of Sanctifying Grace, by which one’s soul is sanctified and becomes a dwelling place for the Holy Spirit and infused Charity (Love), and this makes us alive and adopted children of God. The 2nd type of death you mentioned is the spiritual, and this consists in the loss of Sanctifying Grace in the soul. This is the death spoken of in Romans 6:23 which you quoted. This kind of death never happened to Jesus or Mary.

Of course. Adam lost the gift of immortality and so could not pass it on to his children. So, none of the descendents of Adam has imortality.

There are a few Biblical characters that appear to not have died physically, though I admit I am unfamiliar with the Church’s official position on them, if there is one. The two I can think of off the top of my head are Enoch and Elijah. Enoch finds favor in God’s eye and was taken away. I don’t remember all the details about Elijah, notably if he was sinless or not.

As we all inherited our fallen nature from Adam as a result of his sin, we are all subject to corruption regardless of our own personal sins.
