How can a person say this?

“can someone please give me a decent explanation of why every Muslim seems to react to mention of Israel with such blind and rabid hatred??”

Why hasn’t anybody said this is an unfair question? Every Muslim? Blind and rabid hatred?

If anyone said that about Jews or Catholics people would have a fit!
I agree.

The comment is over the top. It isn’t something that can be generalised and it feeds on prejudice.

Simply because Israel has occupied Muslims lands and they kill Muslims everyday they destroy their homes upon them, they kill kids, women…
Simply Israel is illegal country it has been established by killing people.
Are the Jews having their children strap bombs to themselves and blow themselves up in Arab Marketplaces? When Israel withdrew drom Gaza did peace and prosperity come to the Palestinians who lived there? Which is easier-an Arab gaining admission to israel or a Jew Gaining admission to Saudi Arabia(or any number of other Arab nations)?

It’s generalisations like this that continue to feed the cycle of hate over there. If the West can’t bring about peace, why should it fan the flames? It would be far better to stay out of the conflict.

For Christians, our one focus should be not whether Jews or Muslims are right or wrong, but how we can sow peace and love where there’s hatred and violence. After all, spiritually or by descent, we are all children of Abraham.

The reason why there’s so much killing over there in the Holy Land is because people there don’t practice their faith. I don’t care if your Jewish, Baptist, Catholic, Episcopalian or whatever you are. Practice what you preach!

That’s more like it. 👍

We’ve got a lot in common with a lot of Muslims really and I think Our Lady is gonna bring 'em around one day.

For me I’d love to see all of us have a beer together. :cool:

Are you sure about that? Muslims don’t drink.

:rotfl:

One of my Muslim friends drinks O’Doul’s, believe it or not!

Non-alcoholic beer.

He’s not really uptight. I don’t know if he’s skirting the rules. Never asked him.

The feelings of hate and mistrust that Muslims have of Israeli actions and policies are not blind at all and if anyone is really interested in understanding why Muslims feel the way they do towards the Zionist state, then the following documentary does a fairly decent job of explaining the reasons why.

Parts 1 & 2.

No, but Christians do. I think the idea here is conversion.

I have to admit the infighting about Jews and Muslims upsets me because it doesn’t have to be.

A good exercise for those taking sides is to visit a land where the religion of the majority is neither Christianity, nor Judaism, nor Islam.

Walk down a crowded street without another Christian in sight, meet a Jew or a Muslim and experience what happens. The feeling of brotherhood is instantaneous!

In a setting far removed from our everyday biases, there is something intangible that happens when you meet someone else who worships the great “I am”. Believe me, I’ve been there, it’s true.

Even better answer (even if it’s not what I meant!)

Catholic Dude:

Nah, the Jews are the ones who strap bombs to the undersides of their F-16s instead, since they actually have warplanes.

At the end of the day, both sides are guilty are terrible crimes and there’s no denying this, nor will any agreement be met until both sides accept it.

Wow, thanks for all the replies everyone!

I haven’t had much of a chance to look at these forums lately but I’ll go over all this more and reply when I get the opportunity…

The problem is fairly straightforward; the expulsion of some 800,000 Palestinians from modern Israel after the creation of the Jewish state in 1948. Muslim and Arab leaders have used this as a drumbeat to stir up anger (but really to garner support for their own political careers). Most Muslims regard this as a grave historical injustice, perhaps the same if a great power had invaded a country such as Germany or the UK, expelled most of its population, and re-settled it with natives from the great power itself. The anger towards the West is based a great deal on the support given to Israel by Europe (particularly by the UK and US).
Thousands left because they knew war was coming. Thousands left because Arab leaders told them to leave. The majority fled to get out of the way. Very little were actually expelled.

Based on census at the time, the most that could have become refugees was 650,000. A UN Mediator on Palestine calculated that only about 360,000 Arab refugees required aid.

And of course there are the Jews that had to flee arab countries. About twice the number of Palestinians that left.

Am I mistaken, or did these Arab countries agree to provide land and citizenship for these Palestinians?

No they did no-they promised them that they could have their pick of the land once they killed all the Jews. In fact a Palestinian State was set up the same time Israel was-it was Jordan. Those arabs who left Israel have always been used by the Arab Countires to forment hate and keep their subjects mind off what terrbile leaders they have.

Well, Syria had always claimed that the area now known as “Palestiane” belonged to it.

When the arabs were preparing to invade Israel they assured the palestinians that they would be able to return to their homes shortly after the Arabs destroyed Israel. When things didn’t work out this way, they came up with the refugee story.

The point is that F-16s have guidance systems. Their bombs reach the guilty.

While suicide bombers do not have guidance systems. Their bombs reach the innocent. Nice, eh? Really lovely comparison.

:rolleyes: :mad: Not! Get over trying to point your fingers at anyone but yourselves.

No thanks. The reasons the Muslims feel the way they do towards the Zionist state are:
  1. envy of the West;
  2. attachment to looting and pillaging their own poor and unfortunate to impose economic advantage;
  3. attachment to looking the other way while OBL makes billions of dollars a year for his freedom and fatwas by means of the child sex trade industry, drug trafficking, dirty bombs, and so on (Nice eh?).
  4. the need to hate (a particularly choice little reason);
  5. the need to provide a distraction from the embarrassing actions of leaders of Muslim communities.
  6. the need to keep their unfortunates uneducated while hiding the fact that plenty of money is in the hands of some Muslims and that that money can provide education, jobs, security, and peace.

Ani Ibi:

Right, because of course we can all see Israeli F-16s have only ever bombed the guilty, even those casualties cunningly disguised as children were no doubt terrorists.

Or we can get real.

Yeah, this thread is meaningful. Because we all know that if you walk about Muslims and say “Israel” they drop whatever they are doing, their eyes turn red, and they start attacking the nearest Jew. And of course, anything less than moronic blind support for Zionism is anti-Semitism. Remember, the holocaust means it’s okay for Israelis to fire rockets at car loads of women and children because a suspected terrorist might be riding along.
