Hi,

My question is could it be possible for a catholic woman to have an abortion, and have a valid marriage after confessing the abortion?

The short answer is: yes. A valid marriage means that at the time someone took their vows they intended to enter into a marriage which would be faithful to their spouse, lasting until death, and open to life. If someone changes their mind later on (whether it be about faithfulness, permanence or openness to life) it does not affect the validity of the original vows. We should also point out that a particular sin at a particular point in time does not mean that someone had that sinful intention before or after. Once marriage vows are validly exchanged, the marriage is valid until death.
