Can someone help me figure out the meaning of this dream?

So yesterday I was at Barnes and Noble. I was in the religion section, just browsing. I came upon a book about Kabbalah (mystical Judaism type thing?) and started reading it. It talked about tarot cards, had alot of symbols I didn’t understand, etc; but I thought it looked rather cool. Later on at the same store, I was reading a book about the Freemasons and thought that I may be interested in possibly joining or finding out more.

I returned home and went to bed. When I fell asleep, I had a dream that the Kabblah symbol and Freemason symbols were on fire, and two of these huge beings surrounded them. The beings weren’t human and didnt talk, but somehow I knew exactly what they were telling me. They said, “is this really what you want? (pointing at the symbols), are you really ready to accept the consequences of these?” I was scared to my soul, like more scared than I had ever been. I woke up and immediately thought I was going to throw up, then fell asleep and it was the same exact dream over and over, all night.

In the morning my dad came in and said “Are you okay? I could hear you walking around your room all night last night making noise. Did you get any sleep?” although I dont remember ever getting out of bed. Of course, I’m kind of freaked out by all of this. Any thoughts?

Thank you for posting.
I will pray that you do not get involved in Kabbalah
or the Masons.

I certainly won’t after this. But is it possible that this actually was a divine message? Why would I be chosen when there’s thousands of others involved with these groups? And why would they try to scare me so much?

Stay away from Kabbalah and the Masons. The dream was persistent and carried the same warning/question. It was a warning.

Remember we are not to delve into things like this, tarot cards, black magic or other arts of this nature. Say a prayer of thanks to God and before going to bed every night at least say the “Our Father.”

Yes, you need to back away from the Masons and Kabbalah reading material. You were actually given a very great grace from that dream. Your guardian angel or patron saint was really looking out for you! It was an overt warning from heaven that these things would damage you spiritually.

These practices are considered occult, and the Church strongly advises against exploring them, for you can give the devil a foothold.

From EWTN’s website:

"Freemasonry is incompatible with the Catholic faith. Freemasonry teaches a naturalistic religion that espouses indifferentism, the position that a person can be equally pleasing to God while remaining in any religion…

Historically, one of Masonry’s primary objectives has been the destruction of the Catholic Church; this is especially true of Freemasonry as it has existed in certain European countries. In the United States, Freemasonry is often little more than a social club, but it still espouses a naturalistic religion that contradicts orthodox Christianity. (Those interested in joining a men’s club should consider the Knights of Columbus instead.)

The Church has imposed the penalty of excommunication on Catholics who become Freemasons. The penalty of excommunication for joining the Masonic Lodge was explicit in the 1917 code of canon law (canon 2335), and it is implicit in the 1983 code (canon 1374)."

Regarding Kabbalah, see this thread:

It is not advisable for a Catholic to get into Kabbalah, because the popular variations of it come too close to New Age or the occult. If you are drawn to mysticism, we have the best mystics of any religion right at our fingertips- St. John of the Cross, St.Teresa of Avila and St. Hildegarde of Bingen, just to name a few. It would do so much more for your mind and soul to read their writings than dabble in untrustworthy sources.

Here is a spiritual warfare prayer:

Denouncing the Occult

Heavenly Father, in the name of your only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, I denounce Satan and all his works, all forms of witchcraft, the use of divination, the practice of sorcery, dealing with mediums, channeling with spirit guides, the Ouija board, astrology, Reiki, hypnosis, freemasonry, automatic writing, horoscopes, numerology, all types of fortune telling, palm readings, levitation, and anything else associated with the occult or Satan. I denounce all of them in the name of Jesus Christ who came in the flesh, and by the power of his cross, his blood and his resurrection, I break their hold over my life.
I confess all these sins before you and ask you to cleanse and forgive me. I ask you Lord Jesus to enter my heart and create in me the kind of person you have intended me to be. I ask you to send forth the gifts of your Holy Spirit to baptize me, just as you baptized your disciples on the day of Pentecost.

I thank you heavenly Father for strengthening my inner spirit with the power of your Holy Spirit, so that Christ may dwell in my heart. Through faith, rooted and grounded in love, may I be able to comprehend with all the saints, the breadth, length, height and depth of Christ’s love which surpasses all knowledge. Amen.

I think you know the answer to this. It’s obvious that something in you doesn’t want to pursue this line of curiosity and doesn’t think it would be good for you. Just because something seems interesting to us doesn’t mean we pursue it and your dreams seem to be saying this is not for you.

I suspect it was simply your subconcious expressing itself in a very colorful way. You already know that stuff is a bad idea to get involved in.

I wouldn’t be so quick to leap to reductionism. If our forefathers in the faith were too quick to leap to supernatural explanations, we certainly are far too quick to explain away the supernatural. There is a war going on between angels and demons for each and every soul, yours and mine included. Right now.

You are so right. 👍

I do believe that it is possible that it was a divine message. It sounds like you were chosen to get away from such curiosity before you get hooked into its misery. God’s love wants us to look only to him, and prayer and the sacraments are the most powerful of all.

May our Lord Jesus Christ guide you!

I think there is a lot of harm in encouraging dream interpretation. People take that sort of thing to extremes and the next thing you know, they are leaving their husband because they dreamed of a ladybug flying away, or they’re convinced they’re going to die because they dreamed they had cancer. Dreaming is one of the ways our brains process things and clean themselves out. While our dreams may often have something to do with things that are bothering us during waking hours, that doens’t mean that dreams are messages about what we should and should not do. Recently, I had a very vivid dream about my husband bringing home a baby elephant and trying to wash her in a big tub in our living room. I’m pretty sure that wasn’t a message that I should become a zoo keeper.

Deception. Darkness shows itself as “rather cool”. These books are inconsistent with the Catholic faith. These books can appear to be fine to read because they can be found in the religion section alongside other books on Catholicism and bibles. The enemy deceives because it knows people are searching for answers-in the religion section. Involvement in these practices can invite demonic spirits. If your a disciple of Christ, have nothing to do with these books and practices. St. Michael the Archangel defend us in battle. Be our protection against the snares of the devil.

You are correct that we should be careful about dream interpretation. However, this dream as described had a very different character about it. The vividness described and the repeated return of the dream are both significant.

I don’t usually have much to say about dreams people may have. Most are due too having ate too much, watching a scary movie or being worried about a job or illness. But there are some that seem to beg for interpretation and this dream is one of those. Even if we argue that the OP was experiencing a dream due to knowledge at a subconscious level as related to the occult, the dream is still very vivid and focused, and I think that warrants closer review.

Warning dream to avoid those two paths that lead to hell.

Practice the five stones to get to heaven.
