Just because you believe or don’t believe something does not make it true.
I never claimed it did. I have also not been presented a truly right and just reason for the Church to
make the claim that a group of people has the capacity to “experience an exclusive … sexual
attraction toward persons of the same sex”. Do you have one?
People used to believe that the earth was flat and that the sun revolved around it.
We now know that is not true, because our technology has advanced.
A point I have made myself I don’t understand the flat earth acceptance of the “homosexual person” myth.
FWIW, I do believe that people can be “exclusively attracted” to one sex or the other, or to even both, or none. In the long run, it has no bearing what-so-ever on my belief in God or Church.
To be honest, with all the challenges facing our world & Church, 🤷
You are welcome to your view.

My concern is that the Church makes a claim that a group of people has the capacity to “experience
an exclusive … sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex”. Is this statement true or false?
I believe the statement is false.
do you really think this is a good use of your time & energy?
I believe that this is the only instance where the Church claims something to be true
which is false. So I believe I have an obligation to the Lord to pursue this issue.

God bless

I believe it much more likely the difference in brain activity is do to de-sensitivity to shame rather that the
mythical “homosexual person”.
So I’m only a myth, huh? As for your question, “Can someone help?”

I seriously doubt it. We’re at post #244 and you’ve rejected most of what everyone else has said.

St. Paul nowhere says that men can’t be attracted to men.
Niether do I SSA it is a temptation It does not follow that anyone is incapable of OSA.
St. Paul does say that lust is a sin. There is a very distinct difference between the two.
What is it you think St Paul is talking about here:

Romans 1:27

“and the males likewise gave up natural relations with females and burned with lust for one another.”

“lust for one another” is not SSA?
JJR, The moment you say the church is in error, you have put yourself in the position of juding the Holy Spirit. There is no point to continuing this part of the conversation. @Tim Staples has already admitted that the particular way the catechism is phrased could be misleading. That is as far as I am willing to go as well. I would never be so crazy to claim that the church itself is in error as you are doing.

JJR, Animals feel attraction. Animals do not have immortal souls. Attraction is therefore part of the body, not part of the immortal soul. What you are doing is rationalizing and disputing over issues which can not possibly prove your point.

You are the one showing wishful thinking and trying to project your own faults onto everyone else who talks with you.
You are welcome to your view.

I believe the statement is false.
Lab experiments on animals obviously goes FAR beyond erotica and self identification.
If you can’t grasp the basic points I’m making, but continue to misinterpret the clearest of arguments, then there is no reason to continue to the conversation.
I don’t equate lab rats and persons. I am sure you can not present “good scientific reasons” showing anyone is
incapable of OSA.

God bless

So I’m only a myth, huh?
I don’t want to offend you and I don’t believe that this is the correct venue to discuss your personal situation.
I don’t know the path that lead you to where you are today but I can say with confidence that it is not the Lord
that calls you to SSA.
As for your question, “Can someone help?”

Is it also true in your opinion that everyone is capable of SSA?
I believe that Satan is a compelling liar so without the Grace the Lord is willing to give but
will not force us to take any depravity is possible.

God bless

“lust for one another” is not SSA?
Correct, it is not. Just as should I lust after the woman next door, that is not OSA. As was explained at length in an earlier post, attractions are not sinful, whereas lust is. Attractions are not chosen, though lust is. Attractions, temptations, sins - they are not the same, but you treat them as though they were in order to maintain your argument.

The Church is also explicit in its teaching that to experience SSA is not sinful, and to engage in lust is sinful. So here we have a disagreement between yourself and the Church on a matter of faith and morals, given you equate these two things.

I also addressed the point about the temporal aspect of “an inability to experience OSA”, in an earlier post. There are persons experiencing SSA who do not / cannot experience OSA. The Church has no position on the permanence or transience of that situation.

Compelling indeed if he can tell me not to like something, like chocolate cake. 🤷

Is it your view that all who experience SSA are depraved and without grace? Even those who strive daily to remain chaste and pray. How can their unchosen attractions condemn them while their acts keep them firmly in the Lord’s favour?
