Here are some different Catholic versions of that bible passage
RSV-CE
12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall understand fully, even as I have been fully understood.
Douay-Rheims
12 We see now through a glass in a dark manner; but then face to face. Now I know in part; but then I shall know even as I am known.
New American
12 At present we see indistinctly, as in a mirror, but then face to face. At present I know partially; then I shall know fully, as I am fully known.
New Jerusalem
12 Now we see only reflections in a mirror, mere riddles, but then we shall be seeing face to face. Now I can know only imperfectly; but then I shall know just as fully as I am myself known.
Ignatius Study Bible says this about the verse:
in a mirror dimly: Ancient Corinth manufactured mirrors of polished bronze. Although known for their excellent quality, thier reflected images would nonetheless remain hazy and indidstinct. Our present perception of God is similarly imperfect (see the CC 163-64 and 314)
Collegeville Bible Commentary: (btw, IMHO, this commentary, overall, can be, let’s say … liberal(but without all the political connotations))
– There is a good comment here “The Corinthians strive for knowledge, but Paul tells them that this is symptomatic of their immaturity. Even the clearest knowledge is like a shadow compared to love which sees face to face”(page 1126)
A Catholic Commentary on Holy Scripture
page 296 paragraph 880a
talks in regards to a glass mirror being “indirectly, or by a reflection”
Hope that helps.
