Can someone please explain Matt24,14:mark13,13:luke21,19

Only those who endure to the end will be saved.

I am not exactly sure what this passage means.
I was reading about the end of times…And this passage confuses me a little…
To my understanding is that when the end of times come, believers in Jesus will be persucuted (sry my spelling) and killed when not willing to worship the antichrist…

So how can people make it to the end…or is it that we will be saved through Jesus.

Lauraella, I think the point of these passages is not that the faithful will not be killed, but that spiritually they will endure (be found faithful under the threat and reality of martyrdom) to see and participate in the glory of the coming of the Lord.

Jesus is talking about perseverance in faith. He tells us that many will be fooled by false messiahs. Those that stay true to him will be martyred for their faith. That is true in any age, be it near the end of the world or not. Many people have been martyred for belief in Christ around the world, and will be until Jesus comes again. He was telling his followers what to expect if they remained true to him under persecution.

Although “the end” for some refers to “the end of the world” when Jesus will return in glory, for most of us “the end” refers to “the end of our physical life,” i.e., to our death. In other words, persevere in your faith until you die and you will be saved. If you believe for a while but then turn away from the faith, you are in trouble.

This reminds me of a discussion I am having with a friend about millenianism and 1st resurrection.

I think those verses are similar to these:

Colossians 3:

1 Since you have been raised up to be with Christ, you must look for the things that are above, where Christ is, sitting at God’s right hand.

2 Let your thoughts be on things above, not on the things that are on the earth,

We have been raised up (first resurrection) and now we dwell in heavenly places.

Philipians 3:
20 But our homeland is in heaven and it is from there that we are expecting a Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ,

21 who will transfigure the wretched body of ours into the mould of his glorious body, through the working of the power which he has, even to bring all things under his mastery.

If we die in grace, we will not know the second death. But if we fail. We can loose heaven. This is why the Church can proclaim people to be in heaven. Even before the last judgement and the ressurrection of the body.
