I’m a craddle catholic, 42 mother of two, wife of a wonderful and faithful (4th degree knight), fully time professional. I’ve always been active in the church going to mass etc…sometimes more prayerfull then others, not perfect at all and just really starting to understand the details of out faith. I always pray at mass for more faith and guidance. Now the scary part…

Over the last month, I’ve been finding myself obsessing over my faith…It started with a call to confession (1st time in a year or so) then I started to go to daily mass, reading everything I could get my hands on, listening to C/D’s, praying the rosary, and just thinking of and praying to Jesus non stop…I know this isn’t bad, if fact its probably what I’ve been praying for…but I feel like he’s calling me to somthing and I don’t know what to do!!!

I’m scared. Can anyone help? What should I do?

Thanks for listening (reading)!

I suggest you find a priest you can trust and tell him what you just told us. 🙂

Don’t worry - you’ll know what all this is about when the time comes. In the meantime just follow your heart in learning and practicing your faith.

I second that advise. A time of preparation can be quite lengthy. 🙂 Just be patient, spend time in adoration, and learn, learn, learn.

Also, be careful that you don’t neglect your family with this new found ferver. Too many religious practices can be a bad thing when your state in life is wife and mother (trust me, I’ve seen it). That is your 1st calling, so be sure your devotions/education are in response to, and for the support of your family 1st.

Sounds to me like He might be calling you to Heaven… Keep this stuff up and you might just get there!!!😃 (and when you do get there, put in a good word for me)😉

Sounds good so far! As others have said don’t neglect your family during this time. Don’t let them say that the church/religion stole their mommy away.

Are you able to include your children in your devotions? Maybe make a time after your family dinner for the rosary (or in the mornings before everyone’s day gets started). Or use part of your devotional reading as read-aloud time with them. I’ve learned alot from reading Saints lives stories to my children. Both TAN and Ignatius Press publish a series of children’s books about Saints.

Your husband sounds pretty active too. What does he say? Are there any devotional practices that you too could do together? I don’t know much about the Knights, but at our parish they have a rosary meeting once a month (maybe once a week?), could you join in something like that.

Just follow God’s leading (don’t let yourself push ahead of him) and you’ll be fine.

Thanks so much to all of you! It’s really helping me to relax a little just reading your responses. I agree, I’m a mother and wife first. My kids are older now (20 & 17) so although they still need me…I don’t think they’ve hardly noticed. I have been neglecting my work a little…have to watch that!

I haven’t really discussed this at great length with my husband yet…I think I’ve been afraid too. It’s almost like if I admit it to him, I’m committing myself to something…I don’t know…it’s silly I know. He’s away on business right know but when he gets back, it’ll be a great topic. I know he’ll be supportive, he has always had a strong faith, more so than I, this is probably his fault, he’s probably been praying for me! 😃

Thanks Again

Actually I want to say “Congratulations!!”

It is God who chooses us, not we choose God.

God is drawing you near to Him. You are on the way of building more intimacy with God. It is a good thing.

As long as you are carrying out your primary duties as wife and mother, you are fine to spend all available time with God.

I know exactly what you described. Just follow your heart and enjoy the Lord. Relax!
