There’s this girl I know that is a terrible person. She has wronged me and my friends in a specific way that I(we) did not deserve. She is a Christian. I noticed she posted a bible quote on her facebook page. Can someone recommend a bible quote that I can post on her facebook page? Something that sends the message:
“God is watching you. He knows what you did. You may be psycho crazy, but you are not so crazy that you are not culpable for your actions. Your lack of respect for other people and their property and your unwillingness to live up to your duties and responsibilities demonstrate how much of a horrible human being you are. You’re going to hell unless you right this wrong.”

 Sorry, I’m in a really bad mood right now.

I don’t think there is a verse that says anything remotely like that. What kind of quote did she post that made you angry? And more so why would a verse from the bible anger you?

Or how about you just block her and calm down 😃

I know this isn’t the answer you want, but perhaps a better message would be something from the other end of the spectrum, something that shows that she has wronged you terribly but can be potentially forgiven if she changes.

I know it is easier to say “I’m furious with you and you could go to Hell,” but it isn’t a very charitable message to give, even if she deserves it. It would probably be better for your state of mind if you worded your complaint in a more “Christian” way. Besides, you catch more flies with honey, or something like that.

My prayers are with you and this girl. By the way, I fully understand what you’re going through. My own sister very much fits the description of this girl, and I have thought/said the same things you want to say, so I can honestly tell you that the message you said you wanted to send won’t change her or make you feel better.

Good luck with taking the high road 🙂

Jesus on the cross, betrayed by one of His twelve companions, abandoned by 10 of the remaining 11 companions, plotted against by the leader of His people whose duty and commission was actually to support and welcome Him, and tortured and executed at their request.
As He hung there struggling to breathe, He gasped “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” Luke 23:24
Earlier, He had said: “But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,” Matthew 5:44

You have acknowledged how upset and angry you feel, and yes, these are understandable human reactions. Ask God to help your to recover, and pray for this girl who is so misguided and in need of grace to become a true Christian. She has hurt you and your friends, but at this stage, if she has maliciously hurt you and others, she is a hurt and damaged person who needs healing and grace. You can become a truer Christian through forgiveness in your heart, and you can obtain grace for her.

God’s kind blessings to you

Darn! Even Old testament? Wasn’t God kind of angry in the OT, striking people down who did wrong things and stuff?

Her post did not make me angry, she in general makes me angry and then when I read that post it gave me the idea to remind her that even if she thinks she isn’t accountable to me, she is accountable to God.
Or how about you just block her and calm down 😃
Excellent idea. My heart is beating out of my chest. Waaaay too worked up over this. Especially since this happened days ago and it’s only now getting under my skin!

Interesting idea! That did not occur to me. I hope I never see her again though haha

I tried being nice 😦

Thank you for your prayers and understanding…and I’m quite sure you’re right about her not changing.
Good luck with taking the high road 🙂
That’s what my mom said too lol. :o

By her description I would recommend this Bible verse…

[BIBLEDRB]Matthew 15:8[/BIBLEDRB]

Forgive me if this comes across wrong, but…
I noticed from your previous postings that you’re an atheist and I’m curious as to why you would want a quote from the Bible for your retort?

Using scripture verses in some sort of a Bible quoting sword fight seems a bit of an odd thing to be doing with the Word of God to me 🤷

That’s a good question to ask! I kinda got the hint of it when he/she said this -
Darn! Even Old testament? Wasn’t God kind of angry in the OT, striking people down who did wrong things and stuff?
Now that sounds very much like an atheist’s statement to me, so I am not sure why this atheist wants a Bible verse. Perhaps the intention is to use our knowledge of Bible verses as ammunition just to prove a point to the Christian girl. Who knows the intention? I am pretty sure I can think of a couple of Bible verses that fit this scenario, but unless the OP clarifies for us why he/she despite being an atheist believes that this Christian is going to hell, I don’t think we should help him/her.

I have one for you: “Turn the other cheek.”

You could also try praying for her. Getting even is not what you should do.

“As much as possible … be at peace with everyone. Never try to get revenge: leave that, my dear friends to the Retribution. As scripture says: Vengeance is mine - I will pay them back, the Lord promises. And more: if your enemy is hungry, give him something to eat; if thirsty, something to drink. By this, you will be heaping red hot coals on his head. Do not be mastered by evil, but master evil with good.” Romans 12:18-21

Some place in Proverbs there is a quote about being kind to one’s enemy, “for by doing so you will heap live coals on their head.” You can read through the book for yourself, I can’t cite it chapter and verse. I’m not recommending this proverb as something to post on her wall to let her know about your anger: I’m recommending that you think it through to see that engaging her in a cyber argument will come to no good end, and if you are charitable, or neutral, it is she that will be doing the obsessing and second-guessing instead of you, who will presumably have more interesting things to occupy yourself with than her behavior.

However, how well do you really know this person, and quite honestly, do you really care what her opinion is of you? If she is merely a cyber-acquaintance, a little discernment might disclose that perhaps you are being a little too self-revealing on Facebook, and encourage you to take more care in what you post there to avoid being a target of some stranger’s ill will.

I’d shy away, too, from using quotes from scripture in a very public battle with a self-identified Christian, especially if you are an atheist. If, as you say, she is ill-willed, she will use her more extensive knowledge of scripture as a club to try to beat you senseless with in a very public forum. She will try to make you look very stupid with it. Do you really want your mutual acquaintances on Facebook watching what will evolve into a cat fight, with you bearing most of the claw marks?

Sometimes the most effective, efficient, peaceful, and dare I say, Christian, thing to do is to just move on to things that make your own life more enjoyable and satisfying. It’s hard for some of us to accomplish this: For many years I nurtured many grievances, real and imaginary, wasting much time that could have been spent in far more pleasant and productive activities.

Personally, I do pray for my enemies’ happiness and well-being, and it’s not necessarily out of a purely spiritual motive: It’s enlightened self-interest. When their lives are happy and fulfilled, they leave me alone!😃

I give you this bible verse, from Matthew, but I give it for you to use with yourself, not your friend…
Mat 18:21 Then Peter came up and said to him, “Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?”
Mat 18:22 Jesus said to him, "I do not say to you seven times, but seventy times seven.

If you need to confront someone – and I don’t always recommend doing so – avoid the passive-aggressiveness, be direct, and for goodness’ sake, don’t address the problem over Facebook. It sounds like confronting this girl does you no favour, so I don’t think you need more than keeping clear of her and focusing on yourself.

All right, how about this?
1 A gentle answer turns away wrath,
But a harsh word stirs up anger.
2 The tongue of the wise makes knowledge acceptable,
But the mouth of fools spouts folly.
3 The eyes of the LORD are in every place,
Watching the evil and the good.
4 A soothing tongue is a tree of life,
But perversion in it crushes the spirit.
5 A fool rejects his father’s discipline,
But he who regards reproof is sensible.
Proverbs 15:1-5.

retaliating with Bible verses is wrong.

consider the well-known verse 2 Timothy 3:16

ALL SCRIPTURE IS INSPIRED BY GOD AND PROFITABLE FOR TEACHING, FOR REPROOF, FOR CORRECTION, AND FOR TRAINING IN RIGHTEOUSNESS.

What is “reproof?”

Definitions of reproof (n)
censure: the act of criticizing somebody for having done something wrong, or something said as a rebuke

If you are not well-studied in the Bible, then I’d suggest you back off from using God’s holy word for retaliation. Christians fighting with each other is not God-like.

I don’t know for sure what you can actually accomplish by using scripture. Why don’t you just drop the whole thing. Why not take the “high road” and say that you don’t want to get into a winner-loser battle, where more words may just make matters worse.

“stand down” from this confrontation.

Words and Prayers of St. Isaac the Syrian

Let yourself be persecuted, but do not persecute others.
Be crucified, but do not crucify others.
Be slandered, but do not slander others.
Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep: such is the sign of purity.
Suffer with the sick.
Be afflicted with sinners.
Exult with those who repent.
Be the friend of all, but in your spirit remain alone.
Be a partaker of the sufferings of all, but keep your body distant from all.
Rebuke no one, revile no one, not even those who live very wickedly.
Spread your cloak over those who fall into sin, each and every one, and shield them.
And if you cannot take the fault on yourself and accept punishment in their place,
do not destroy their character.

This may be more appropriate.
Philipians 2:1 Therefore, if there is any encouragement in the Messiah, if there is any comfort of love, if there is any fellowship in the Spirit, if there is any compassion and sympathy, 2 then fill me with joy by having the same attitude, sharing the same love, being united in spirit, and keeping one purpose in mind. 3 Do not act out of selfish ambition or conceit, but with humility think of others as being better than yourselves. 4 Do not be concerned about your own interests, but also be concerned about the interests of others.
5 Have the same attitude among yourselves that was also in the Messiah Jesus:

Sorry I don’t have a hell-fire and brimstone Scripture, I’m not a Baptist.🙂

You guys have helped me a lot actually. Apparently you don’t have to be a believer to get a good message from the bible every now and then. 🙂

It was ironic that she would in any way represent herself as a Christian so recently after what she has done. I thought it’d be clever of me to call her out on it.

I didn’t though and I feel much calmer now so I’m just going to drop it. I think if I were to say anything, it’d be

“WWJD”

because what I really want is for her to do the right thing and I feel like it is safe to say that Jesus is a role model for doing the right thing. Can you really go wrong if you asked yourself that?

So I’m going to DWJD and turn the other cheek. I don’t forgive her, but I am not a confrontational person and no good could come from continuing communication with her. :getholy: hehe
