Can something be inherently evil?

I was discussing the other day with a friend about things being inherently evil. I was of the mind set that there were such thing and he was not. Can somthing be inherently evil? such as Killing? which was our subject of discussion.

Yes, some acts are inherently evil. Killing isn’t always. One may kill in self defense and to protect the innocent. But murder is inherently or as the Church says, intrinsically evil. The taking of innocent human life is always intrinsically evil. So abortion is intrinsically evil
