Can souls in Hell sin like they did on Earth?

I doubt they can sin. Sin is an action that separates a person from God, and those in hell are already fully separated from God. Even if they could sin, they would not attain any pleasure from it.
Here’s why:

-Pleasure is a good

-Goodness comes from God

-People in hell are completely isolated from God

-Therefore people in hell are isolated from the good of pleasure

Please, someone point out if I said anything wrong - I would not consider myself very experienced in this topic.

In a way, sinners who are alive on earth are already in Hell. Sin separates sinners from God while they are alive.

Ah, that’s a good point. The main difference is that sinners on earth can still be touched by God’s grace.
 
Satan & his angels are sinning by tempting humans on earth to sin. I don’t know if they can make the human souls in hell leave & tempt people on earth. :confused: 🤷
 
The real question should be can they do anything BUT sin…
 
I guess you could say that they can no longer commit an act of sin, yet they are in an eternal state of sin?
 
Sin is the rejection of God. Those in Hell have definitively rejected Him… but since that rejection is a one time, final event, I don’t know if they would be continuing to reject Him in Hell… I dunno. That’s a tough. They probably aren’t sinning in the sense that we sin…
 
Souls in hell blaspheme God all the time. They hate Him and they hate each other. Therefore, they are always sinning.
 
Some Catholics say that souls in Hell hate God and hating God is a sin.

Well some mystics say that the way you sin on earth is the same type of torture you recieve in hell. Some saw people with their tongues pierced (probably lying) and well you can use your imagination for the other sins.

St John Bosco saw a vision of hell where he saw people fall into hell and be perpetually stuck in the position they arrived into hell at, yet still screaming and in torment. What a strange and horrible place. May God preserve and keep me from there and all of us for that matter.

I’m afraid I don’t have any more info than has already been said, but there are many books written by the Saints and mystics and approved by the Church about what hell is like.

The souls in Hell are in a perpetual state of sin, which is to say a perpetual isolation from God. There is no goodness apart from God, but a total, desolate lack of it.

One doesn’t party in Hell, there is no pleasure in Hell (being isolated from God = being isolated from goodness = being isolated from pleasure).

As others have said, there is nothing but hate in Hell.

Most assuredly, no. There is not joy in Hell, there is no partying. When we say that the people in Hell are sinning, we mean that they are constantly rejecting God. While on Earth, that rejection frequently takes the forms of things that people find pleasurable, such as partying, fornication, and general debauchery. In Hell, the sin is completely removed from any kind of enjoyment we get from it on Earth, it is purely inwardly-directed, and only drags the soul further into despair and hatred. This is because there can be no “good” apart from God, no joy, not pleasure, no love, nothing positive whatsoever.

I am not sure, but again, they find no pleasure and no joy from any sins they can and do commit. They do not find even a remnant of goodness, as they have isolated themselves from it. As C.S. Lewis once said, “The doors of Hell are locked from the inside.” However, they have chosen a terrible fate. There is not much left for these souls except for hatred, bitterness and jealousy. Pray that none of us succumb to the temptations of this world and seal ourselves into such a place.

I don’t think they are sinning any longer…they are just getting the punishment for their sins on earth for which they never repented.

It almost sounds like you’ve given up hope and have resigned yourself to hell someday. Are you trying to find out about it to reassure yourself it isn’t that bad?
 
No you are wrong i want to go to Heaven.My question is only a curious question because i ve seen that some Catholics say that Hell is a place of sin too.
