Can a priest consecrate both the bread and wine by saying, “This is My Body, which will be given up for all of you” and elevating both the Host and the chalice? The words for the consecration of the wine were never spoken. This occurred at a Mass I attended this evening. Is it appropriate to receive under the form of bread under those circumstances? I didn’t, because there were so many other innovations at the Mass that I did not feel “in communion” with the congregation.

Hi,

In Scripture Jesus consecreated the elements separately. No priest has the authority to change the consecration in this way. The bread was validly consecrated. But you need to notify the bishop. This is not a minor thing.
