Is it possible to take away someone’s canonization?

Aren’t canonizations considered infallible?

If that were to be found, though, it would probably just make this whole situation worse from a media standpoint. It would offer us, as Catholics, some interesting discussion points, though.

I’m asking a theoretical question if the church can do it

No, canonizations are infallible. Whether or not JPII knew does not detract from his sainthood, saints are not perfect beings.

Meh, it’s clear I’m not suggesting that the church do it but if the church could

Didn’t something happen to st Christopher and people stopped wearing his medals? Am I mistaken

I wear a four way medal with him on it and I’m glad he’s there.

Intersting question. I would think if something new were to become know the church would have a method to remove sainthood. I have no proof of that so it is just an opinion. In the cased of JPII this wouldnt mean he isnt in heaven just that we dont have proof of such.

Dont let it bother you. Many catholic here fail to understand a discussion group. They are easy to offend and will claim others are bad or poor Catholics. I have been called a poor catholic at least 5 to 10 times here on this board. Even had one post a link about Americanism causing heresy.

Hi, I have been off the forum over a week. [ hospital] . Could you please tell me what this is all about? From reading the posts I kind of think it involves JPll

I originally asked if it’s true about jpii knowing about the allegations of McCarrick would it be possible to remove his canonization.

But I think people thought too much of what I asked. I really just want to know if the church can reverse a canonization

No, the Church can’t “reverse” a canonization. They can remove a saint from the calendar, but they don’t stop being a saint.

I think Jimmy Akin might have an article about this on his website.
