Can the damned become demons?

While clicking some links on the Internet, I came across a couple of accounts of exorcisms during which the evil spirit claims to be the soul of an evil person who had become a demon. In several cases it also claims to be Judas Iscariot. Is there any truth in this?
 
Christian theology has restricted the use of the word *demon *to those fallen angels who were cast out of heaven. Angels are an entirely different order of creature than human beings. They are pure spirit, not embodied spirits like humans. That being the case, a human being, even a damned one, does not become a “demon.” Even damned human beings remain human.
