Can the Devil be at multiple places at once?

If the Devil is constantly on the prowl looking to destroy souls, considering how many believers there are that could be stolen from God at his beckoning if they are weak and allow it, that would still mean he would have to be at multiple places at once.
If he is merely a fallen angel, where does he get this special attribute from?

Hi Strawberry. I have done some research into the Devil and Freemasonry. As I understand it the Devil has not the power to be at multiple places at once. However he has other devils feeding him all the info he needs. Nor can he read your thoughts by the way. No doubt there is a little devil reading this now and reporting back to the boss. By the way, never mess with the Devil by way of wishing this or that. A pal of mine had a bad experience after one session of discussing ‘selling one’s soul’ to him.

I’m not sure it can accurately be said that the devil or any particular devil, is in any particular “place”. Being a spirit, he would not be bound by space or have a particular location. He “is” where his thoughts are.

It might be more accurate to question how Satan, for instance, could tempt multiple people simultaneously. Since we humans have problems multitasking, we assume Satan would as well. There is no particular reason to believe he does, though, and significant reason to doubt it.

In any event, as a previous poster said, there is more than one devil. One may recall the demon’s statement in the New Testament that “we are legion”.

Oh, I believe he has the power to be many, many places at once.

an angel is where he acts…

yes he can act in many places…

Workers in the Devil’s legion, the devils help. This way he can be multiple places at once. But, what can he do once he gets his information from them and whatever he found out on his own?

If he could be in many places at once, he would not have to prowl.

I read the passages referring to his being cast out of heaven and down to earth as signifying that he is now forced to operate within the created universe (space-time continuum), which to me means that he is limited as to space and time, just like we are. He does, however, have many, many minions (apologies to Despicable Me fans).

He is not a human. So, what attributes does he possess?

I would have to study on that. He certainly is powerful, especially when it comes to deception. However, he’s not a “negative” god; he does not possess the attributes that God possesses, only turned to the “dark side.”

Thank you for your willingness to answer my questions. I admire your want to study it.

This is evidence of a believer who is not afraid of questions!

agreed :
Satan is not the equal /opposite of God and Satan is not the equal /opposite of Jesus…

The closest “realtive” of Satan would be Micheal the ArchAngel.

Possible. Being a spirit, they existence is on a different plane than ours. Its possible that the two planes intersect at different points. If saints can hear people’s prayers from around the world, there’s no reason to think that the devil, who is created an angel, would have the same ability. We shouldn’t think of their limitations to time and space as the same as ours since they do not have physical bodies.

Well said. Why didn’t I think of that 😛

Aquinas is clear that omnipresence is only God’s native attribute. :o
Being in multiple places is different from omnipresence. Being in multiple places at the same time is just the tip of the iceberg for omnipresence.

When you have minions working for you all over, you can be many places at once.

Always found Aquinas hard to follow. Anyway, anyone want a good tale about Satan, one popes believed. Well here it is, fascinating and by Diana Vaughan, supposedly a fiction according to Freemasonry, but where did they ever tell the truth?

Diana Vaughan and Luciferianism
‘On the 25th March, 1885; I was presented in the Grand Triangle San Jacques, Paris, in order to be initiated as a Grand Templar Mistress… The proof from which I was dispensed, and which I refused to perform, was to outrage the Eucharistic Species, by trampling it and stabbing it [Satanism]… This provoked a conflict amongst my brothers and sisters in Saint Jacques Triangle… This crisis lasted until 1889. It ended by Lucifer Himself solving the difficulty and pronouncing his decree in my favour, after he had received from me the homage of Adoration [Luciferianism]…The decree, sent by General Albert Pike, first sovereign pontiff of Universal Masonry, on the 8th April, 1889, made everyone believe that it was an act of his superior power and authority in my behalf and nothing more. So all thought. I let them say and write what they liked, as in those days I believed, that I was bound by my oath of secrecy…

**Meeting Lucifer **
‘When I was 25 years, 1 month, and 8 days old, I was presented officially to Lucifer, that is to say, when I beheld for the first time with my own eyes, him, who calls himself the rival of the God of the Christians, and his eternal Superior….
Being invited to Charlestown, by the most serene Grand College, for the settlement of accounts, I arrived there on Thursday the 4th of April 1889. It is commonly believed in the order, that every Friday at 3 o’clock in the afternoon [the perfect masonic hour], Lucifer appears in the sanctum regnum (lodge in Charlestown) where he speaks to the principal chiefs, and gives them his instructions, even when they are not all there, that is the Grand sovereign Pontiff of the dogmatic directory, and the ten Emerited Masons ad vitam, who compose of the Grand College: but although Albert Pike had the gift to transport himself instantaneously, from one place to another, he did not attend all the meetings called Divine. He was present on the 5th of April 1889. I was not asked to that meeting which is reserved to the 11 chiefs, being the divine meeting of the week.
In the evening of that same Friday, one of the chiefs, told me what passed, and that the Good God Lucifer, heard my case with interest, and ordered, that I should be presented to Him, on the third day, following the instructions they gave me in the name of Albert Pike…
They then locked the doors, leaving me alone in front of Palladium. Palladium is the statue of a buck goat, with breasts of a woman, and large black wings. It belonged to the Templars, of old, and was called Baphomet by them. Its last templar guardian was J. B. Molay, and was brought to Charleston together with Molay’s head by Isaac Long, who said he paid the executioner for the latter, in Paris where Molay was executed. This Baphomet serves as a model for the others, in the many Areopagus, Kadoschs, and all the Grand Triangles in which only it is called Palladium, in the others Baphomet. From it Palladism, or High Masonry is named…

There was no candle, lamp, or fire, to light the room, and still I was not in the dark…I approached the wall and found it covered all over with little jets of flame like pin heads, but they did not tremble nor move, and were like a sweat of fire. I put my hand over to it, and felt a soft heat, given out that did not burn the skin. They were green flames, such as I have never seen before… There, in the acute angle of the room Baphomet was conspicuous, and never appeared so hideous to me before…
[After many hours] the flames began to get bigger, and illuminate the whole room brilliantly. Then I saw Lucifer before me, seated on a throne of diamonds, without having announced his apparition by any movement or noise whatever. I did not see how he sat down, or got up, only that he appeared in the place of Baphomet, as if he was always there. With profound respect I knelt down before him but he forbade me with a gesture, and said to me, “Get up, my daughter, to kneel is humiliating, and I do not want to humiliate those I love, and by whom I am loved.” Now I understand the whole imposture, thanks to the only true God, that illuminated my understanding, to see through the tricks of Satan. The head deceiver, was filled with pride, and appeared to me exactly as I wanted to see him. It would be impossible to describe the manly beauty that appeared to me on that memorable occasion. I have not words to describe his ravishing beauty, nor is there the slightest comparison between him and the statues of Apollo, or any one else. From head to foot, only his figure appeared, covered with cloths of gold, or rather shining gold pieces, beautifully arranged in harmony and in variety at the same time. Let the reader imagine a coat of mail, formed of pieces of gold the size of pearls, all red, green, and, yellow mixed indistinctly, loose and moveable, so that they showed the irreproachable lines of his classical form, displaying at the same time a heavenly richness, greater than ever was dreamt of by any artist, even the most enthusiastic admirer of the rich, sumptuous, and beautiful. How entranced I was. How deceived, thinking I saw in Satan, God, and giving him my adoration blindly, and calling him my divine master. May my tears serve to blot out the blindness of my father, who blinded me, whom a saint of Christ, came to cure at last. Cursed be Lucifer, who destroys so many souls with his lies. You the divine master, vile rebel, vile slave, most degraded, may you be cursed eternally.

Anyone want more?

He can certainly make it seem that way.

Remember that Lucifer kept his angelic powers. Swiftness of movement can seem like he’s in different places at the same time.

Surely the fallen angels that followed him to hell will make it seem this way also.
