**Free will has nothing to do with the devil and possesion. Even Holy people dont will Satans attacks, but accept it as part of Gods will for them

Jan**
Not so Jan. To be actually possessed, a person has to consciously invite him in. It never happens against a person’s will. Which is why it is rare. Most people do not want to consciously ask to be possessed.
Harrassment and obsession are different. They can occur without our participation.

You would be more credible and have more respect if you didn’t keep opening up stupid threads!
Perhaps she doesnt care what WE think of her, and focuses on what God thinks of her.

Peace and God Bless.

So, then, making cloven-hoof footprints in the snow wouldn’t be a problem for him?
Is this a joke? Are you kidding? When I see prints in the snow, I have to admit my first thought is not the devil. You are joking correct?

If she is so interested in what God thinks of her, then why when she sees footprints in the snow, does the devil come to mind? How about deer, or wild pigs, maybe a cow got out, God’s creations are good, snow is pretty, isn’t it interesting how prints occur? Instead, she wondersa bout the devil leaving foot prints in the snow. I rather doubt it. He’s a hedonist. Doesn’t want to get cold.

You are talking about two different things here. Possession has everything to do with free will.

Being attacked by the devil as experienced by the saints is a totally different thing. The attacks to them are from the outside.

The attacks in possession are from the inside of the person. This is the major difference…
Willingly messing with the occult could make a person unwittingly invite Satan in for possession. But you are right that Harassment and possession are very different.

In the city?
Most likely it is not satan that left footprints in your yard. Satan has alot of work to do, lying to people, convincing them to sin, trying to take over the world etc etc. He’s not going to waste time putting hoofprints in your yard unless there is a purpose in it, like causing you to fear. I’d be more likely to agree that it was him making you wonder if it was him that put the hoofprints in your yard than to believe that he did put the hoofprints in your yard. If you can follow that.

Every one knows that spirits, demons and angels do not leave foot prints.

But, seriously, there is a difference betweeen possession ( demon indwelling one like Judas for example ) and oppression being picked on by demons from the outside ( book of Job for example ).

There is simply a greater adwarness of satan being at work today. If you read the Dictionary of Miracles ( Gale Research ) then you will see that satan has been busy in every century.

If you look at the threads started by the OP already - everything from asking what Catholics think of self-mutilation, cannibalism and now cloven hooves, I think it is pretty obvious that the OP is most likely an atheist (a Catholic or Protestant would be happy to say what they are in their profile) and is simply in these forums to bait us.

**I concur, with regard to harrasement and possesion however, a person (not a saint) does not will or choose to have satan posses them… Its has nothing to do with free will., its Gods will

You say you concur and yet you make a statement like this one which is totally contrary to what you concurred. Let us try this again.

Harassment is a totally different experience than possession. It comes from the OUTSIDE of the person and, on the whole, is usually due to the holiness of the person. Although we cannot box the devil in. And yes, God allows it.

Possession comes from the INSIDE of the person and, on the whole, happens when the person involves himself/herself in different occult practices but again, we cannot box the devil here. It ALWAYS requires the will of the person as the devil cannot act without being allowed to. It is allowed by God Himself but is never the author of such an affliction.

He has many minions, dark fallen angels.
Minions? It’s not my understanding that Satan has a kind of network of demons at his disposal. That’s a little too reminescent of the movie “The Prophecy.” In fact, it’s a common misconception that Satan is some sort of head hancho within the boundaries of hell. It’s not like he has any power over the forsaken souls or fallen angels. It seems to me that he, like anyone else who is in hell, operates on the axiom, “Misery loves company.”

In which case, I find it hard to believe that Lucifer would endorse any kind of possession himself. As someone mentioned earlier, Lucifer’s bane over humankind thrives on the perception that he doesn’t exist. From this, it’s rather apparent that any doomed soul you come in contact with has their own agenda based on bitternass (since there’s really no point in trying to be nice whilst in hell) and is not one of Satan’s peons.

Anyway, yeah. Satan can work someone over physically. At the very least, certainly he can effect one person through mere words and edicts. And that one person would effect everyone else around him or her. The problem however, is that he probably wouldn’t want to seeing as how his lack of presence makes a bigger impact than proof of his existence ever could.

Do you realize that you just wrote that possession by Satan of a person is God’s will? This is really your belief? That God can will evil?

God cannot will evil.
But there is a line of thought that says God allows Satan and his minions to tempt us and cause afflictions so as to teach us about the virtues–especially humilty?

Earlier Jan’s posts said God willed it. That is different from saying God allows it. God also allows abortion, but he does not will abortion. To state that God wills Satanic possession is to say that God is capable of doing evel acts. That is not the same thing as saying out of respect for human liberty and dignity he allows us to make our own decisions and allows Satan to tempt allowing us to respond. It is not just a matter os semantics. To disallow free will in Satanic possession or in any evil is to completely change the theological nature of God.

And humility demands an accurate assessment of who God is. Without it, no human can rationally assess himself in relation to God, now can he?

**Everything is Gods will, he dose not cause evil, yet permits it.

Its a battle going on , between good and evil here and on the other side.

**The person does not have to be involved with the occult, its absurd to suggest this. Holy people or religious people excluding Saints, deal with possesion .( minus there free will.) Its not by free will a person allows satan to attack them or posses them. God does not cause such an occurance yet permits it.

Ask a Catholic priest , if a non-saint should becomes possesed, if it is by their own free-will this happens???. as free will is a choice, no one chooses such an evil act to fall upon them.

The Saints ask God for any sufferings he wishes to bring upon them. So yes , it is by free will the Saints alllow anything to happen, as suffering is a grace from God.
