Can the Devil prevent us from good experiences?

Hello!

I was recently asked about if the devil/demons can effect the physical world in such a way that can keep us from something good.

For example: the person who I was talking to was going on a religious retreat. But on the way there, one bad thing happened after another. Flat tire, lost keys, and a few others.

Is this just bad “luck” or some kind of tactic of the evil one?

Dear friend,

Satan has NO power over us unless we give it to him or God allows it. Things can go amuck on their own, without his being the cause. If we pray daily and frequent the sacraments, he can do us no harm.
