Can the godparent consecrate the baptized child to Mary? Or the godparent does not have the power/authority to do so because this can only be performed by the child’s parents? Need advise thanks!
No, consecrate the child to Mary means that the child ( his body and soul) will be entrusted to the protection and care of our Blessed Mother just like in St Louis de Montfort’s Consecration to Mary book
Yes, the Godparents have that power. In brazilian culture we choose 1 godparent for this, beside the baptismal godparents. My child has 4 godparents 2 baptismal and 2 consecration godparents.
