My friend asked me this, He’s a baptist:
“So then how is it possible that God’s spirit could indwell a believer and yet that believer still sin? I know this seems like a dumb question but wouldn’t that mean that the Holy Spirit is then only infallible some of the time? Or that the Holy Spirit only indwells the believer some of the time?”
To give some context, we are discussion about infallibility of the church and I pointed to him that the Pope and the Magisterium were guided by the Holy Spirit.
Any ideas on how i can effectively answer his question?
Thank you in advance,
David
