Can the Non-Traditionalist Catholics have their own section of CAF, too?

these quotes almost seem like they could be used to argue for the E.O. position, with the exception of their divorce allowed thing…no?
Are you speaking of the Eastern Orthodox ? If so, I can’t really comment. I know very little about them. Not that I don’t care to. But I’m a revert to Roman Catholicism, and I’m still catching up on the faith I foolishly turned my back on for 35 years.

I’m willing to hear what you mean though 🙂 I believe we have an Eastern Orthodox church here in town.

I haven’t thought of this forum as being only for those who hold firmly to traditional forms but as a place to discuss the reasons why these traditional forms are cherished and why others believe the the newer forms have merit also.

I have learned much from these discussions even though I do avoid discussions when they become become heated.

…well, yeah, although it would mean derailing this thread a bit, and I am not E.O., but have semi-recently learned about them a bit, and one thing is they claim to do is hold to the original teachings, before our western “innovations”…it’s a whole big thing, I was just throwing in :twocents: , I could have kept in my pocket , although I have been attending Divine Liturgy at a semi-local eastern **catholic **parish before going to mass 😛
it’s a very beautiful thing, and I think it’s very complementary and have found it very helpful in drawning closer to God, at least I hope that is what is going on…:signofcross:

I do not believe there is a need for a new section.

Why? Answer: because there shouldn’t be a need for a Traditional Catholicism section, but sadly it ended up that way. After the disastrous misinterpretations of Vatican II, anyone holding true to anything dated 1962 and early was held as a pariah. The Traditional Catholic community has been effectively ghettoised, hence there is a real and pressing reason to deliminate areas particular to that group.

That is, of course, my own take on it, but I hold it to be a fair reflection of the situation at times.

Whenever I take one of those “religion” polls, I always end up strongly “Traditional Catholic.”

But I sure do clash with some of the people in the Traditional Catholic section of CAF. Golly molly.

You would not even know that we are part of the same Church. I feel like I believe totally differently on almost everything than some of the people here. But then someone posts something that is more like what I have been taught by my priests and catechists, and I realize that I am not a misfit after all.

It worries me that I don’t think I would be friends with many of the people who post here on CAF. That doesn’t seem very kind of me, but I honestly wouldn’t want to hang around someone who was always keeping a list of wrongs in the Church and challenging those who have been placed in authority over us.

Please, can we who are “Traditional But Open To New Things” (TBOTNT) have a section of the forum where we can discuss all the wonderful and exciting developments in our amazing Catholic Church?

None of the other sections seem to fit this.

On one of the forums that I belong to (an ice skating forum), we have a “Brag Board” to describe wonderful things that have happened. Maybe something like that would work here on CAF.

Thank you.
I would love to see this 👍 I am frankly tired of traditionalists who come over into L&S and pushing their agenda around. Can we have a forum for those who actually love the NO and music which ALLOWED! (please no arguments on that score) and I do mean a reverent NO btw! And yes you can have one without chant and Latin. 😛

I believe the Protestant forum is on the “Non-Catholic Religions” section.

Maybe there should be a “Progressive Catholic” forum for those that admire all of the new music and even condone rock music in the Mass. For those who are not bothered by liturgical dancing and who believe that charismatic practices should be allowed in the Mass.
Let the Traditionalists, those that love Latin, altar boys, incense, Traditional music, communion rails, kneeling while receiving, keep their forum. .And this would include those that love a reverent Mass in the Ordinary Form that includes many of the Traditional aspects of the Mass.

Thats heresy

That’s heresy

CAF is a Catholic discussion forum that is an outreach project of Catholic Answers, a lay Catholic apostolate. The Traditional Catholicism forum intended to accommodate those Catholics particularly attached to traditional Roman-rite liturgy and spirituality. Those who are not should be able to find others who share their interests in any of the other boards on CAF. I particularly recommend the Liturgy and Sacraments and Spirituality forums to Catholics who are interested in discussing the ordinary forms of Roman-rite liturgy and spirituality.
