Can the opposite sex live together chastely?

I’d like to know the reasons why it is or isn’t ok to live with your partner if you are not sexually active.
Many people I’ve spoken to say it is wrong because they don’t believe we are not having sex or we would lack self control or leave the other person tempted or vulnerable, but this is not the case.
If it’s not ok, then I would like to know why it seems acceptable for housemates of the opposite sex to live together… what would the difference be? Again if you refer to a couple being unable to lack control then i dont think this is the case with us.
