Our new assigned priest right before he gives us the final blessing at the end of Mass usually announces some achievement or some activity that has occurred in the parish and starts clapping. Basically it is a congratulatory action. I have no problem clapping if it is in celebration of the Mass like in different parts of the world. but to do it for these circumstances, I find that it takes away from the Mass that we just celebrated. Is there any ruling on clapping during Mass?
