i confessed two days ago, it went ike this…

masturbation x times
watched porn x times
i given myself to lust (did not mention the x)

i said the ‘lust’ portion when pertaining to the two and I didnt say how many times

and i read on this forum that the capital sin itself should not be confessed for it is only the root of sins.

would this invalidate the confession?

You can’t “invalidate” confession. You can commit a sacrilege by purposely withholding a sin but it’s not an invalid confession.

Saying kind and number is what is required. You don’t need to go into the details. If there is some detail that you added unnecessarily or accidentally left out that is considered a part of being a normal human and not a sin.

If you purposely changed a number or held back a sin then you did do something wrong and should confess that action as well as any sins that you confessed in that confession.

so what I just said on my post are is alright? i did not witheld anything… 🙂

You are fine. Just be guided by your Priest and trust him! Ask him this question

Don’t be scrupulous. You confessed your sins. Trust in the sacraments that Christ left us.

You did not invalidate your confession. If the priest had any questions about what you meant when you said that you had given yourself to lust he would have asked for clarification. You did just fine. Accept the words of Absolution as offered by your priest.

BTW…

I confess Capital Sins all the time…by specifying the action such as:
“I was prideful by seeking recognition for my singing ability.”
“I was slothful in neglecting to say my daily prayers on Wednesday and by frequently entertaining distractions when I have prayed.”

Masturbation and watching porn CAN be venial
when you have a habit of doing it, I am not suggest-
ing that you can still receive communion, I am
suggesting that you not FOCUS too much on these
sins, it can draw attention away from more serious
sins like pride and greed.

You are showing some clear signs of scrupulosity.
Have a chat to your confessor about that.
Its a relationship with God not an authoritarian, magical, mechanical “torture chamber.”

If teh priest accepted your confession then your confession was valid.
