I personally think they can (and it scars their soul) but they aren’t held accountable by God so none of them goes to purgatory.

Yes. Reason doesnt just come like a rocket. It is a slow process. Children may frequently commit venial sin, and rarely, even mortal sin.

I would be interested to know how you understand that a child of 4 or 5 is capable of “sufficient reflection” and “full consent of the will,” two requirements for sin to be mortal.

That is wrong. Anyone under the age of reason CANNOT commit a mortal sin.

Or venial sin.

The theory that there is an age where it is possible to commit venial sin, but impossible ( not just less likely) to commit a mortal sin, is based upon a bad understanding of sin.

So if somebody is watching porn below th age of reason(it happens in this world, sadly…) it is totally ok?

You are right. I just focused on the mortal sin.

Uh, i have committed sins, though venial, with complete knowledge of the gravity of the sin and whole-hearted consent to the act. By the grace of Kantheesa Alaha, grave matter was not in that.

Are you a 4 year old?

No, but i am talking of what happened when i was 6.
i cant tell you my age, but hint: it was 8 years back.

sorry for asking, but are you a paleoconservative?
The Church says you cannot commit sin below the age of reason. I think the Church trumps other opinions.

Can you quote from the ccc?

Was what i did unsinful? Can you explain?
I repeat that whatever an individual might think, the Church (who is the teaching authority established by Christ) states that someone below the age of reason cannot commit a sin.

What is it that you want me to quote from the CCC?

That children below the age of reason cant commit a sin. I have.
Canon Law:

§2 A minor who has not completed the seventh year of age is called an infant and is considered incapable of personal responsibility; on completion of the seventh year, however, the minor is presumed to have the use of reason.

  1. isnt canon law subject to change?
  2. But many seven year olds ARE able to fulfill all the requirements for mortal sin…and MANY adults are not. How does the church answer that?
