Much credit for my distillation goes to comments earlier by you and others. This thread has helped me tremendously in my working through how this mess of mine came about. I am much more confident now than I was a week ago that I will be able to avoid repeating how this came about should I ever resume dating in the future. I had been wrestling for a long while as to how/why I ignored the warning signs, and this provides a very compelling explanation for the trains of thought that were still ending in question marks.
