Can veganism be pleasing to God?

St. Francis de Paola was vegan because he had a great respect for all animal life; also because he observed “perpetual Lent”.

I would like to be vegan, but I have physical issues that would make it difficult.

I think veganism done for “right” reasons like St Francis de Paola could be very pleasing to God. It should not be forced on everybody though. Many people physically need to include some meat, or at least some eggs and dairy, in their diet. They could probably survive without those things, but it would be difficult, uncomfortable and possibly unhealthy for them.

The trick in cooking the tail slowly. That way it’s not so chewy. But if you’re out in the field, you take what you can get, usually burned crispy over the fire on a bayonet. Mmmmmm…good!

Long thread - I haven’t read the replies. The answer to your question depends on context.

If you’re doing it out of prayer and sacrifice, I think it’s a wonderful idea! It’s also beneficial to God’s creation because a diet heavy in meat has an adverse impact on the planet.

If it’s just a virtue-signaling venture, then we’ve got Matthew 6:1 to deal with.
