Our God son is marrying outside of the Catholic church. When we asked him about a priest, he told us he had decided to become Lutheran. He says he can still receive communion in the Catholic church and that being Lutheran is the same as being Catholic. Can we as practicing Catholics attend his wedding? We don’t know where to begin to correct him about receiving Communion. His father is also of the Lutheran faith and has been receiving communion in the Catholic church for years whenever he attends a wedding, etc. His mother who was raised Catholic has told them this is OK. Help. Thank you.
