Can we be led of the Holy Spirit?

Luk 11:13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

If we ask the Holy Spirit to give us understanding, will He?

If the Holy Spirit does give understanding, in what ways can He do it?

This is a time to be led by the Holy Spirit to entertain any views or questions concerning the true nature of the Holy Spirit in us.

Subject is open to believers and unbelievers.

May the Holy Spirit lead the direction of conversation to its own will.

Yes. I have no doubt about it.

If the Holy Spirit does give understanding, in what ways can He do it?

My direct experience has been in the following ways:

Softening my heart.

Opening my mind.

Giving me courage to change.

Giving me the strength to stand opposite to all I had stood for previously despite the fact I lost all my freinds and looked, in their eyes, like an idiot.

Giving me faith, where there was none.

I have no doubt that He can lead us due to my own personal experience. I was away from the Catholic Church for 5 years and not practicing any religion. A friend of mine took me to a Christian music festival, since one of his friends was playing in a band there, and my friend knew that I like music. At the festival, a Baptist gave me a Bible (KJV without Apocrypha/Deuterocanonicals). I had never read the Bible before, but decided to read it, since I was looking for meaning in my life. After reading the KJV, I returned to the Catholic Church. I have no doubt that the Holy Spirit is responsible. I never had good catechesis as a child, but after reading the Bible (even in its incomplete form), I understood. I joined a Catholic Bible study afterwards. I know I never would have understood and returned to the Church if not for the Holy Spirit. Praise be to God! :bible1:

es, He touches the core of our soul and makes us bold in declaration of His love.

Ah yes, the experience! Yes, Jesus’ spirit is ever willing to aid us in our efforts to learn more about Him.

The bible is the story of God’s works in the lives of His creatures and if filled with great and wonderful truths about Him and what He has done for us.

When we read and don’t understand means only that at a later time when the Holy Spirit feels you are ready to receive understanding, He will reveal many things to you.

He will bring to remembrance those scripture verses and give them life to your understanding.

Continue in your quest for Gods desire in your life by which you may lend yourself to.

AJ, the thing that is awesome is how He shows something new each time one reads the Bible. I have read the Bible all the way through 8 times since then. Every time I read it, I learn something new, even when I read the same thing I have read before.

My priest’s sermon today was about being open to God’s calling in our lives.

You are absolutely right on! God desires us to continuously seek Him and doing it joyously.

The holy Spirit will never leave us but will be with us till our end.
