Can we be sure if a definite person is in hell?

1. Hell is filled with many, many souls. During numerous apparitions, our Blessed Virgin Mary has revealed this fact.
2. While we know that MANY souls are in hell, we can not be certain of who they are because only God knows the exact state of a person’s soul at the moment of death. Even Hitler & Judas MIGHT HAVE been saved from the fires of hell by the infinite mercy of God.

It’s simple, all you have to do is to see the condition of their heart and contritness of spirit at the moment of their death. If you can do that, then you can know.

but if they didn’t repent to a priest, does it matter? We can know for certain if some ever when to confession. If we know of mortal sins they commited, and know they didn’t go to confession, can we probably assume they are in hell?

As my pastor has said before, Catholics are pretty unique in that we have a long list of people who definitely ARE in heaven (the Saints), but we don’t have any list of those who definitely AREN’T.

We know there is a Hell, and that it is possible to end up there; we just don’t say which specific people are there.

And this is the hurdle MANY come across. Especially young people. We ALL have or will come to this hurdle.

This hurdle is searching and finding the “faith system” that fits most closely with OUR beliefs. WE create the god that best fits our ideals. It doesn’t work this way.

And Jesus spoke so clearly on this matter. We must be humble as a child. In order to RECEIVE faith (a gift)… we must humble ourselves and pray for this. It WILL come.

We must be open to the TRUTH. Not to what we feel or want to be the truth.

I may “feel” that rigid cruel God fits my idea better… therefore I can create the god in my head… and he will be the one I believe in and follow.

Or in your case… your god is many… has goddesses… and so on (don’t know much about Wiccan)… and this fits your idea of “WHAT” God really should be… and therefore you believe.

That is not faith. It is easy to believe in your god… YOU created it.

I say PRAY. SEEK. ASK. The gift of faith is for ALL. Some don’'t want it, however.

Although certain aspects of the 10 Commandments are good and are part or similar to my own beliefs(in regards to killing, lying, stealing, adultery, etc.), I do not follow the 10 Commandments, so this really does not affect me. ================================================================================================Hi Blessedbe, The TRUTH is that it does affect you. This is a perfect example of the question RE; How can we be sure if a definate person is in[or going to be] HELL. The commandments are Gods standard by which we will be judged.If we break only one in Gods eyes we are guilty of them all. Once you can admit you are guilty of breaking Gods law His grace will begin to work in you.There is a Savior who can save you from Hell. Repent, believe, and trust Jesus as your Savior. i still stick to my answer - the way to tell if someone is hell is to spend the day with them. always works for me…

I’m curious about your chosen deity. Would it be permissable for you to reveal something about your deity if not the identity thereof, and what is it that attracts you?

When I wrote that statement it probably came out the wrong way. Spokenword said that I picked a deity that fits my lifestyle. That was untrue. I worship deity in the form/s that I can relate to and make the most sense to me. It is hard to explain, and those probably aren’t even the right words, but bear with me. I came to these determinations through prayer, meditation and contemplation. I worship deity in the form of God and Goddess. They are opposite, yet equal; separate, but united. Often, I pray to Goddess in the image of Selene, a Greek deity theoi.com/Ouranos/Selene.html.

That’s kinda why I liked the pagan gods of winter and spring. No human projections just the power that makes things end and the power that makes things begin

I agree with this as well. Ultimately that is what I feel deity is, but people give them different images which make it easier to relate to, and therefore worship deity. That is why I feel there is no one religion that holds claim to the “true god”. I feel all religions are worshiping this same deity/power/force/whatever, but project different images upon it.

That is certainly an interesting and different perspective. And in the way religions go back and forth with whose image is “right or wrong”, quite mature. I do believe that human conceptions of deity, are at best, incomplete, but I also do not see harm in giving an image to deity to aid with one’s own personal worship. The problem begins when people begin arguing about who is right and wrong.

I heard a preacher, evidently non-Catholic, today make an interesting statement: religion and tradition are masks we use to keep from revealing our false selves.

Would I be correct in saying that for you, the beliefs in your heart are the standard by which you judge the rest of the world? Or is there a standard external to you which plays a part?

Meaning do I judge people by my own standards? Or by social standards? If that is the question, then probably a little of both. I try not to be too judgmental in general, but I know I tend to be sometimes.

I did not create anything. Through thought, prayer, etc. I have come to various conclusions regarding my spirituality and religious beliefs. If my beliefs reflect Wiccan beliefs, that will be the religion I practice. I’m not going to practice a Christian or other religion whose beliefs completely differ from my own and just pretend to believe what the religion teaches. That would be lying.

I did pray, and the Goddess came to me.

I was open and the truth came to me.

That is not faith. It is easy to believe in your god… YOU created it.

As I said, I did, and the truth was revealed to me. Of course, I am still open and praying, but as I said, I’m not going to pretend to follow a religion I don’t believe in.

No, they don’t because I am not Christian. Although I may have beliefs that mirror some of the 10 Commandments, I am not obligated to follow them all. They are not part of my belief system.

They are the Christian standards. I am not Christian.

As I’ve said, I know I do wrong and I do what I can to make it right. I’ve also said that Hell is not compatible with an all-loving god. No person was evil from the minute of their conception to the minute they died, so no all-loving god would condemn any of the creation it loves to everlasting torment. Also, Jesus may be your savior, but he isn’t mine.

Its up to you. Heaven or Hell.

Oh, I guess I choose heaven then. All set.
