Can we ever be confident of our salvation?

If i say “I am in the state of grace and I am confident I will go to heaven”, then I am arrogant presumptious and proud. If I say “I am not in the state of grace and confident that I will go to hell”, then I am also arrogant because I doubt God’s love and mercy. your thoughts please, Thx,Eric
