No. I don’t understand why one would consider only Betty Friedan and Gloria Steinem the only speaks for women who believe in equal pay for equal work.

I don’t understand how speeches about the glories of one era have anything with a person’s choice to live in one period of time or another. And quite frankly, I don’t understand how invoking as “expert” a site run by a rabid anti-Catholic fundamentalist pastor simply because he twists scripture to his own way of thinking have anything to do with living in one era or another.
It is illogical. The arguments are poor to non-existent. They are full of holes and fallacies. Nobody who has chosen to live in another era has made a case for it, except that they would prefer to live in it because women would still be “in their place” or that “families would still stick together”. Not one real fact has been mentioned, just a lot of opinion. And that’s fine, as far as opinion goes. But opinion is never fact.
I like now. I like the future every day I get older, because I am really very fond of living. I like being alive. I don’t want to go back to diseases that wouldn’t be treatable
(a fact). I love the Internet, which wasn’t even AARPNET in the 1950s (
a fact). I like knowing that, if need be, despite my age, I can do a day’s work at what was once traditionally “man’s work” and get paid the same as the fellas* (a fact).*
Murder in any form is always wrong
(a fact). Women who kill their babies, or men who encourage them to do so are wrong. But it is
my opinion that going back to the 1950s will not solve that kind of problem.
The practicies of different times need to be adapted to today. The alternative is a mindset that is not unlike the Amish. Yes, they are nice people. But they are trapped in the past in order to relate to God.
God and the Holy See for that matter are not against equal pay for equal work. There are encyclicals dealing with such issues. I see a Vatican web site, certainly proof that the Holy See wants information out there for everybody.
There is no reason a parent, either parent, can’t stay home with the kids during the day. For that matter, there is no reason why there can’t be a family business where everybody helps out and the kids are homeschooled (how’s that for traveling back in time)? There is no reason ALL young people who are capable shouldn’t have a way to earn a living, and not be limited to a few choices, when they hit legal majority. There is no reason why, after centuries of proof, families shouldn’t try to dine together, once a common middle class custom. If they choose to eat fast food, or roast a whole joint in the family fireplace, that’s their business.
The Present and Future have a lot more going for it than naysayers on both sides would give credit. In any event, Time Travel is impossible at present. The Future continues to show up every second.
