Can we indulge in the "what we have given up for Lent" on Sundays?

How about when we give up something for lent, I was always told you could indulge in that item on Sunday. Is that true?
 
Things that we give up for Lent are personal matters that are not regulated by the Church. You are free to determine the parameters of your personal lenten sacrifice.
