Can we really trust what the media (in diffeent countires) say about the coronavirus?

Well, I’m assuming you trust, somewhat, what the media in your country is telling you? I trust what they’re telling me in my country. I’d say we can rely on it for the most part because there’s no way they’d intentionally do so much economic damage unless there was a really good reason.

It is mostly people from places where immigrants live who get the virus and die
It’s been primarily the elderly and those with underlying health conditions that have unfortunately died from this… it’s becoming more indiscriminate, though, and taking younger people and those without underlying health issues. If you don’t trust certain medical experts, see what the WHO are saying or perhaps research what virologists are saying to get a better understanding of this issue.

Also, Jesus actually made (and loves) the immigrants, too.

I think it is the culture of those immigrants that is the problem. Many eldery Somali people do not speak Swedish and proobably attend prayer services at a local mosque even if they should stay at home. . . .

Certain immigrants are poor and do not speak Swedish.
It seems that immigration is a big issue nowadays. I do not sound politically correct to you.
I think media are afraid of telling the truth about immigration. The left is kind of immigration friendly.

The Swedish government has a responsibility to translate all health information to its immigrant populations.
This. The government will have communicated with them about this, in whatever language is needed.

This is not a phenomenon unique to immigrants. People who speak fluent Swedish, or English, or whatever majority language are also not sticking to the restrictions. We see it even here on CAF, with reports that family members are going to Mass even though it is forbidden. Just yesterday my country announced that 25 people met for a party despite groups of more than two (family groups excluded) currently being banned.

This problem is not limited to immigrants. I fail to see what immigration has to do with coronavirus.

Unfortunately immigration IMHO is related to coronavirus.

Note I didn’t necessarily say illegal immigration.

There are a lot of reports that people went to china for celebrations then returned to their own constries (and Chinese nationals living elsewhere did the same thing). Italy has a growing Chinese population and the Italian government took steps to strengthen its ties to China not that long ago, fostering travel between the two.

I think it has to do with some immigrant groups being poor. I am only refering to poor immigrants.
Also, many immigrant groups do not have a big organisation that can help them. The Catholic immigrants have the Church but many immigrants do not have an organisation/Church that would help them. I guess many immigrants isolate themselves from the society. They live in their small social ethnic social groups.

That is even more ridiculous, given that the virus was initially transmitted by people who had the money to travel around the world for vacation holidays, cruises, business trips, a soccer game etc.

It was not transmitted by poor immigrants moving from Country A to the virus to Country B without the virus.

Also, in my country many initial transmissions of the virus have been going through relatively wealthy areas because that is where the professionals and well-off retirees who travel were spending their time.

Please just quit with your anti-immigration train of thought. It’s not a matter of its being politically incorrect, rather it’s un-Christian and does not match with the facts.

Please don’t get upset.

Not really. You can be against certain kinds of problematic immigration.
We had what is called an immigration crisis! Christians shouldn’t have to be a fan of modern Socialdemokraterna!

This is not true at all.
Well, I am not sure I even trust all the medical experts.
Well they went to medical school, and you didn’t. So they know more than you do about infectious diseases and how they spread, and about this virus.
Can we really trust what the media (in diffeent countires) say about the coronavirus?
In general, yes we can.
I think it has to do with some immigrant groups being poor. I am only refering to poor immigrants.
It has absolutely nothing to do with being an immigrant, or being poor.
You can be against certain kinds of problematic immigration.
We had what is called an immigration crisis!
But trying to assign blame for coronavirus on immigrants is disingenuous and wrong. They have nothing to do with it. If you want to talk about immigration policy in your country, you need to do it on its own merits. Do not try to blame immigrants for some thing that has nothing to do with them.

Check their sources; and the history of the media outlet itself.

I"m not a fan of MSNBC but if they are delivering direct quotes from the CDC I’m confident they are good.

Another thing to remember is that almost all media follows two rules:

A) If it bleeds, it leads. Get that clickbait.
B) Localize the story. Make your target audience care.

So I don’t get a ton of stories about the plight of New York because that isn’t real local. But I get a crap ton from my local municipality. And despite the fact that the vast majority of people who get Covid will recover without major issues, you won’t hear that much.

So, we should do social distancing and be serious about this; because many people will get sick, and our hospitals will likely be overburdened. We should follow the CDC recommendations and check up on things like the Mayo Clinic.

But we shouldn’t live in fear or obsess about this. I have a family member nearly sinking into despair reading the news constantly.

I’m frankly annoyed at the news coverage overall because we don’t get emotionless news and consistent facts. We get sensational news. The truth is in that news, but it’s delivered in a way that makes you get excited and upset; because that’s how the news outlets pay the bills.

It is mostly people from places where immigrants live who get the virus and die. People in the media are afraid of talking about the real issue of immigration.
This is a false statement… I can’t tell if you are trolling and looking for a response or if you are simply repeating something you have been told. Either way, the falsehood should be called out as such.

So, are you saying it’s just the poor immigrants you have a problem with?
That is even more ridiculous, given that the virus was initially transmitted by people who had the money to travel around the world for vacation holidays, cruises, business trips, a soccer game etc.
👍

I don’t trust the mainstream media for much of anything. There is a forum which has links to news that I trust more than mainstream media. I won’t say the forum because the mob here will attack.
