Well even normal people use Roman Numerals. I work with a guy who is “First-Name Last-Name, III” (names hidden to protect the innocent) so its not like its an out-dated practice.
They wouldn’t be mad at you. As one poster stated, you might seem under-educated or rebellious or something, but its not like its a Canon Law to spell the pope’s name perfectly and in the same manner as he does. Its just proper to do so.
