Can Yoga be good?

My understanding is that yoga is not compatible with Christianity. The spiritual goals and physical benefits of yoga cannot be separated. Stretching and strengthening can be achieved without using the yogic positions. We are to flee occasions of sin, not see how close we can get without sinning. Below are some helpful articles:

I disagree.

Yep I think you can do yoga postures and breathing and not know a thing spiritually about it. Okay I’m a dog, I’m a mountain, I’ma crab or whatever… just posture names. Maybe if we hung latin titles on the poses it’d be alright, hmmmm? I haven’t done yoga myself in ages, but my golf swing was so much better, and I did walk a little taller. And I never knew anything about chakras and the likes (and am still pretty ignorant to it all). But then I never went to class either and use to do it in front of the TV with that woman on PBS in the 70’s and 80’s Lila some-body-or-other… geeze I forget her name. But also if ya can’t get somebody to massage those tired, achy joints and muscles…what’s a person to do? heh heh

Excercise isn’t all medicineballs, boxing, soccer and weights. Did God not tell us to love him with all of our soul, our mind, and strength? Would not the meditative properties of yoga may open up the temple to recieving the Lord, being it a healthy temple?

Yoga stretches don’t mean a thing by themselves. And besides I find my mind far to trained on concenting what my body and breathing are doing to let evil spirits in and do their corrupting. And if you’re a golfer you’ll love the extra 30 yards on your drive.

emp.
