I would like to ask the brave knights of the crusades to pray for the modern Church (along with all the Saints I ask), but most of them are not officially canonized.

As far as I know its not advised, but not forbidden. We don’t actually know if those knights made it into heaven.

I am not sure of the “official” answer. But I ask my deceased father, grandparents, godparents, and a recently deceased friend to intercede for me, I believe that if they are in Purgatory they can and do intercede for us, for only God knows where each soul is. God Bless.

I often ask St. Thomas Aquinas’ unknown scribes in heaven to pray for me as I work–I’m an administrative assistant. Between them, St. Max Kolbe, St. Anthony, our Blessed Mother, and all the angels and saints, I have all the help I need.

As for the knights of the Crusade, all we hear of now are those who committed atrocities just as some people think all Americans’ have imperial tendencies. I am sure that there were plenty of Crusades knights who hearts were set fire with love of God and our Faith. Feel free to ask for their prayers on the Church’s behalf.

That’s what the Communion of Saints is all about. The Saints recognized by the Church are just the tip of the iceberg of our intercessors in heaven…

First, instead of praying for the Knights, why not just pray for those souls most in need of God’s mercy or those who have no one to pray for them? Leave it to God - He knows who’s most in need.

Second, I was taught that The Souls in Purgatory can’t help themselves but they can help us. So, without naming anyone in particular, and - not forgetting to keep them in your prayers often - I’d see nothing wrong in asking for prayers from the poor souls - in general. However, my guess is they’ll have a lot more “pull” once they’ve reached Heaven - and if they know who’s prayed for them – we’ll have holy friends in high places, whether we know them or not !

I am not praying for the knights, I am asking them to pray for me and the Church.

I think with all the weakness in the modern Church, we need the brave Catholic soldiers of the Holy Crusades to bolster our strength in fighting evil.

You should ask for all the Brave Crusader Knights in heaven to pray for you. That way you should be covered.
