Can you define what is a grave sin?

I understand the concept of mortal sinl but all defin. cite “grave sin” but I can not find a definition. I get murder,etc is grave but is lying grave? What about other common things some people do daily- lie, cheat, steal. Is the act itself grave or is there a fact that may mitigate the grave nature of the sin. Just needing a def of grave sin so I can better understand the concept as it relates to mortal sin.
