Can you explain Adam and Eve?

I am new here, so this question may have already been asked, so please forgive me if that is the case.

If we are to believe that Adam and Eve are the first human beings to be created by God, and I do believe that. Then how do we make a reasoned and well presented case for the fact that there are many different peoples in many different lands that could not have gotten there with the old methods of transportation. I understand the different languages are explained by the story of the tower of Babel. But the various peoples in various lands is something I need help with.
