Can you explain Mary as Co-Redemptrix?

Something I came across was Mary being seen as a Co-Redepmtrix. How much latitude is there in the RC’s stance on Mary for this concept to exist? Also I don’t quite understand this subject and frankly it sounds heretical. So basically are there varying opinion’s on the subject within the RCC and if so can you direct me to a detailed explanation of each?
