Basically the same thing as the first, but in a “take a chill pill” kind of way.

You can’t hear God if you’re always listening to the devil.

Here’s a quote from St. Francis de Sales, whose feast day is on the 24th:

“Anxiety is the greatest evil that can befall a soul, except sin. God commands you to pray but he forbids you to worry.”
 
  1. the devil loves it when we fall into despair. He runs amok with crazy ideas in our head in those times, don’t fall for it
  2. Sort of like “you can’t get a little bit pregnant”. IOW, skirting around morality just leads to overlooking and approving immoral things. Avoid the near occasion of sin.
 
Agree with everyone on the first quote.

But on the quote from St. Teresa, I hear don’t waste today worrying about tomorrows troubles. They’ll get here soon enough. 🙂
