Can you explain these symbols on the back of my medal?

I noticed that on some Catholic medals there is a letter “P” with an “X” on it. On the left side, there’s a letter “A” and on the right, there’s an upside down “U.” What is the meaning of these symbols? I’m guessing the “P” stands for the pope?

Both sets of symbols are Greek letters. The P with the intertwined X is the chi-rho. The chi and rho are the first two Greek letters in the title “Christ.” The intertwined A and U are the Greek letters alpha and omega, which refers to Christ who is the Alpha and the Omega (cf. Rev. 22:13).
