I’ve been a Catholic all my life, went to Catholic School in the 1960s and 70s but the nuns and priests never really educated us on the importance of the “Oral Tradition” and it’s equivalent to Sacred Scriptures as revealed living truth as the Catechism indicates. My question is simple: Where can I find the teachings of the Tradition? I travel for a living and take the Catholic Bible with me and read the Scriptures every night. I found the Catechism online and realized that I’m missing out on some revealed truths from the oral tradition. Did these result in dogma, Church doctrine, the Catechism? If you asked me (or any other average Catholic I fear) to tell you one revealed truth from the oral Tradition I couldn’t do it! Since it’s clearly important to the Chursh that we as Catholics understand the complete revealed truth including the Oral Tradition where can I find it? Help! I really want to know these truths as a complimentary to the scriptures. Otherwise my understanding of God’s revelation is limited to the scriptures and that alone, which is the typical protestant position.
