Can you explain warfighting for soldiers?

So, I am going to Army basic training when the next course is scheduled. And when/if I get deployed, obviously, the mission is to “engage” the enemy. But will I go to hell for it? I’m not one of those guys that enlists as so they can kill people and get away with it, I just have nothing planned ahead of my life, and a lot of people chose military because of that reason. But during a firefight, If I was to get fatally hit, I would die in a state of sin, and no time for confession, but there are lots of Christian soldiers, but I just don’t know. Any advice?
