“Sometimes I’m simply not sure about returning to the church due to the fact that my personality just may not be a match in this situation. I’m not sure if I view things in the “correct” manner any longer to be a Catholic. I get sort of nervous thinking about it.”
You sound a lot like me when I first thought about returning to the Church. There were many teachings I disagreed with but the call to return was so strong. One day I decided to go to a weekday Mass and I was underwhelmed when I left. It felt so strange to be at Mass after having been away for so many years. Several weeks later I went to Mass again and it seemed a little better. This went on for awhile until I finally decided to go to a Sunday Mass and I really liked that one.
I began going to Mass regularly and reading about the Church teachings I disagreed with and the more I read the more I realized that I had not understood why the Church teaches certain things.
Returning to the Church was a process and it took me a few months to make the decision to stay once I began going to Mass again.
