Can you give me the Church's teachings on Abortion?

Hello, I was recently informed by a friend, who is not catholic, that apparently the leaders of the catholic church had met to discuss whether abortion would be allowed by the catholic church. Although I did not believe him I would like to know if there is something that I can show him to disprove what he told me. By the way, one of his often used quotes is "I used to be catholic. Thank you for your time.
