Can you hear me now? Confession

Hi,
I went to confession with a sin from the past that I remembered and had committed multiple times.
I stated the sin and number of times once but the priest did not hear me and asked me to repeat myself.
I repeated my sin, louder, again he did not hear.
I repeated the sin again, louder, this time he heard.
My problem is I’m not sure if I repeated the number of times on the second or third repeats.
Should I reconfess?

Taking it that the priest gave you absolution during that Confession, I think it would be unneccesary to reconfess. Even if the priest did not hear you the first time, God did. And that’s all that matters.

You went to Confession with the intent to fully confess. You did so, as evidenced by the fact you recieved Absolution. I believe you’re OK. That said, you might want to discuss your situation with another Priest or a Deacon, just to recieve a little additional assurance…

Even if your confessor is a bit hard of hearing, I’m sure God heard you. No worries.

Reread you story. It sets up like a joke. I expected a punchline. Shoot, the people outside the confessional might even know how many times you did whatever at this point. Or the priest may well have responded, “Quit shouting at me!”

Seriously, don’t get scrupulous about this. You confessed not once, but thrice. And if he didn’t hear the number on the third try, it was through no serious error of yours and a matter which he could have asked for you to repeat a FOUTH time, if he really wanted. So don’t fret. Trust in God’s Mercy.

Now, for your pennance, switch to Verizon!
