My husband is terminally ill. I have been permitted by our pastor to bring him holy communion every day. Because of his condition, and fearing that he may throw up unexpectedly, I was instructed to just give him a small fragment of the host and consume the rest myself. However, a few days ago when I brought him some breakfast, I noticed that the small fragment was still on his tongue even though 15-20 minutes had elapsed. My concern is no longer about whether he will throw up, but rather that he might spit it out inadvertently. Do you have any advice in this situation? Thank you for your answer.
